Description

Fully vaccinated travelers who are not United States citizens, nationals, or permanent residents, must complete the full course of COVID-19 vaccination for a minimum of 2 weeks before traveling to United States. 

The approved vaccines are 2 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Novavax or Moderna vaccines or a single dose of Convidecia (CanSinoBIO), Johnson and Johnson’s Janssen vaccine. 

Travelers must be up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines and receive all doses in the primary vaccination schedule. A booster dose is not needed to meet this requirement. The United States government currently accepts vaccines approved or authorized for emergency use by the US FDA and the WHO. Vaccines accepted are

  1. Pfizer-BioNTech (e.g., COMIRNATY/Tozinameran), 
  2. AstraZeneca-Oxford (e.g., Covishield, Vaxzevria), 
  3. Janssen (Johnson and Johnson), 
  4. Moderna, 
  5. Sinopharm BIBP, 
  6. Covaxin, 
  7. Sinovac-CoronaVac, 
  8. Convidecia (CanSinoBIO), 
  9. Novavax/Covovax, 
  10. Medicago

Any combination of 2 doses of an FDA-approved/authorized or WHO emergency use listed COVID-19 2-dose series is accepted. The second dose in a 2-dose heterologous series must have been received no earlier than 17 days (21 days with a 4-day grace period) after the first dose. Travelers unable to present a valid COVID-19 certificate may be required to comply with rules for unvaccinated travelers.


Details and exemptions

This vaccination requirement doesn’t apply to the following travelers: -Travelers under the age of 18; -Travelers with United States immigrant visa.


The traveler's passport must remain valid for at least 6 months after the traveler exits United States. The passport must have at least 1 blank page.
